Gaferut Island, Micronesia

Gaferut, a tiny coral atoll spanning less than 10 hectares, is a precious part of the Federated States of Micronesia within the State of Yap. This uninhabited island was named "Faro" (stone) by the Faraulep people, who reside over 100 km to the southwest on another atoll.

Fringed with coconut palms and encircled by the shimmering blue sea, Garefut is a delightful island waiting to be explored. The only residents on Garefut are the abundant bird species, primarily terns and boobies, thriving in the island's lush mangrove swamps.
