Scenic cruising Eyjafjordur

Eyjafjordur is Iceland’s longest fjord, running from the north coast roughly southward for over 37 miles. It cuts between high mountains at the seaward end, with widths of between three and 10 miles. The fjord is located in one of Iceland’s most populous regions, and the large university town of Akureyri is located at the bottom of the fjord. The island of Hrisey in the middle of the fjord is the second-largest of Iceland’s coastal islands, often referred to as “The Pearl of Eyjafordur.”
