Go beyond the ordinary with a majestic excursion where you’ll take off by boat to view different ecosystems in Klawock’s archipelago. This is a scenic voyage through pristine waterways, surrounded by lush forests, wildlife sightings, and breathtaking landscapes.
To start today’s adventure, embark at the Klawock tender dock and pick your seat in a purpose-built wildlife-viewing boat. Using the latest reports, your wildlife guide will take you to the most active locations to ensure wildlife sighting throughout the summer season. Hot beverages including coffee, tea and hot cocoa are included.
Along the whale you’ll do some whale watching. Humpback whales come to Klawock’s waters to feed on plankton, herring, and salmon fry for the Alaska summer. Reliant on the movement of the food source, the humpbacks move around the ocean islands surrounding the port. Their majestic presence is unforgettable and the experience will be educational, too.
You’ll also spot sea otter habitats. Sea otter groups, known as rafts, drift along with the movement of the tide. Using seaweed beds for protection and as resting spots, these areas make ideal locations for iconic Otter photos. While they look cute and cuddly, learn how sea otter populations dramatically affect other sea life habitats in Alaska.
Please Note: Dress in layers for warmth and bring rain jacket and gloves.
