Transfer to Cap Spartel -- a promontory located at the Strait of Gibraltar. From an elevation of 1,000 feet, you'll have panoramic views out over the water and the lighthouse perched on the end of the cape.
An hour's scenic drive brings you to the town of Azilah on the northwestern tip of Morocco's Atlantic coast. Azilah, once a trading port for the Phoenicians (1500 BC), has changed hands many times. The resulting mix of architecture, art and culture make it a fantastic spot not to be missed.
Lunch is next, followed by a 90-minute drive back to Tangier.
Discover the medina (Old Town) of Tangier on a guided walk. The kasbah (fort) was once the traditional residence of the sultan and his harem but is now one of Tangier's most fashionable residential quarters. Climb the hill on which the kasbah is situated. At the top, you'll find yourself in an area essentially unchanged since Roman times.
Walk to the American Legation Museum, which documents the history of the relationship between the United States and Morocco. Morocco was the first country to recognize American Independence.
Winding your way back down the hill, you'll end up in one of Tangier's most colorful and lively markets -- the Grand Socco (souk). Take in the sights, sounds and scents as you navigate the hustle and bustle with your guide.
Stop for refreshments of Moroccan mint tea and pastries en route back to the ship.
